ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Background: Violence against woman continues to be a global health problem with formicide being its most severe form, especially in a country with one of the world's highest homicide rates.
Aim: To evaluate the female homicide cases at the Tygerberg Forensic Pathology Laboratory, identifying the demographic profile of victims, leading causes of death, patterns of injury and prevalence of sexual violence.
